Iron Man 3 Director Shane Black Looking to Mold Doc Savage Next
The Iron Man 3 director recently spoke with Collider about getting back to work on his big-screen version of Doc Savage that’s been in development for years at Sony Pictures.
“Well Doc Savage is proceeding on pace,” Black said. “I mean we’ve got to try to set a deal now to go back into that, so as Iron Man wound down I sort of reconnected with Sony who have been gracious to say, ‘We’ll wait a year and sit on these rights until you’re finished with this other picture that we don’t control.’ So they were really cool about it, they were really nice. So yeah I’m back on it.”
Considered by many to be the pre-cursor to the Golden Age of superheroes, Doc Savage has been thrilling readers since his debut in 1933’s The Doc Savage Magazine #1. He’s gone on to star in radio serials, films, comic books and novels.
An expert at just about everything, Savage’s father hired the best and brightest experts from all over the world to train his son to become a genius adventurer with great physical prowess.
