Doctor Who: Cybermen Return in Poster For Neil Gaiman’s Episode

At long last, a poster for Neil Gaiman‘s upcoming Doctor Who episode has surfaced. Called “Nightmare in Silver,” it features the return of the Cybermen, who likely pose a galaxy-destroying threat once again.

In addition to the poster, a synopsis has surfaced for the episode, which airs May 11:

Hedgewick’s World of Wonders was once the greatest theme park in the galaxy, but it’s now the dilapidated home to a shabby showman, a chess-playing dwarf and a dysfunctional army platoon.

When the Doctor, Clara, Artie and Angie arrive, the last thing they expect is the re-emergence of one of the Doctor’s oldest foes. The Cybermen are back!

The Cybermen’s last appearance was in the Season 6’s penultimate episode “Closing Time” in 2011. Here we can see clearly they have been redesigned and now have a sleeker, more Iron Man-like look.

Stephen Woolfenden directed “Nightmare in Silver,” which was produced by Denise Paul and executive produced by Steven Moffat and Caroline Skinner. Doctor Who stars Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman.

“…a sleeker, more Iron Man-like look.” Yeah. Right down to the glowing blue chest-aperture. I mean, they could’ve at least used a different color …

Still, looks bad-ass and I can’t wait to see it! :)

This look is actually a lot closer to their classic design, so these are probably the Cybermen who originate from our universe (not the alternate dimension).
