SPIDER-MANDATE: The Lowe-down on "Secret Wars," Tie-Ins and Stacey Lee
As the adaptation of Guillermo del Toro’s The Strain moves forward at FX, its cast continues to be revealed. Variety reports Lost alum Kevin Durand has landed a role in pilot as Vasily Fet, a Ukranian-American exterminator that works for the New York City Bureau of Pest Control and lends his expertise to hunting the vampire invaders. Durand joins Corey Stoll, who was announced as the series lead last week.
Adapted the vampire horror novels del Toro wrote with Chuck Hogan, The Strain focuses on Dr. Ephraim “Eph” Goodweather (Stoll), head of a Centers for Diseason Control rapid-response team that investigates biological threats, as he investigates a mysterious Boeing 777 at JFK International Airport. What follows causes a vampiric virus to infect New York City that unites Goodweather with a crew of fighters to find a way to stop the spread of the vampires and save New York.
While The Strain has not yet been picked up by FX, it is expected to receive a full series order. Production begins in September.
