Marvel's "Jessica Jones" Will Go "All the Way Dark," Promise Rosenberg & Loeb
Edgar Wright’s The World’s End has a fairly simple premise: A group of childhood friends reunite to complete the 12-spot pub crawl they failed to finish when they were younger. However, the venture becomes more complicated when it’s revealed something sinister has been going on in their hometown and the estranged friends have to figure out a way to reach their goal while also keeping their heads … literally.
The first trailer has finally arrived, showing off a bit more premise than we’d previously seen. The film stars perennial Wright collaborators Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, who headlined Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. Pegg and Wright co-wrote the screenplay. Martin Freeman, Paddy Considine, Eddie Marsan and Rosamund Pike round out the cast.
Here’s the official synopsis:
20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hellbent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their hometown and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub – The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.
The World’s End opens Aug. 23 in the United Kingdom and Oct. 25 in the United States.
