Amazon has passed on Zombieland: The Series, a half-hour comedy that had widely criticized when its pilot was screened online last month with.
“Our Zombieland series will not be moving forward on Amazon,” tweeted writer/producer Rhett Reese, who also co-wrote the 2009 film. “Sad for everyone involved. I’ll never understand the vehement hate the pilot received from die-hard Zombieland fans. You guys successfully hated it out of existence. Anyway, we did our best, and we’re very proud of our team.”
All 13 Amazon Studios pilots were made available for free viewing on Amazon’s Instant Video service, with customers asked to provide feedback to help determine which projects would get a full-season order.
Zombieland: The Series, which picked up two weeks after the events of the film, starred Kirk Ward as Tallahassee, Majara Walsh as Wichita, Tyler Ross as Columbus and Izabela Vidovic as Little Rock. Eli Craig of Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil directed the pilot.
