Soule Finds a Weakness in the Afterlife, Discusses Surprise "Inhuman" Return
Finally we know what the strange blue-eyed creatures in Edgar Wright’s The World’s End are: robots. A new trailer for the movie has premiered showing the monsters that have taken over the main characters’ hometown are not to be trifled with, although they are fairly easy to kill.
Unlike the zombies in Shaun of the Dead and murderous neighbors in Hot Fuzz, these robots seem fairly easy to dispose of. Hilariously, they’re literally “blue bloods,” as the oil or whatever that comes out of them after they’re killed stains Simon Pegg and Paddy Considine’s hands blue.
Also released are two new posters for the upcoming movie. They’re spoiler-free, but show Pegg’s character Gary raising a glass of beer to toast the World’s End pub while the robots surround them. This movie looks to have everything we love about Wright’s films, and hopefully will be a fitting end to his Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy.
Here’s the official synopsis:
20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hellbent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their hometown and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub – The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.
The World’s End opens July 19 in the United Kingdom and Aug. 23 in the United States.
