Luke Cage History: From Hero for Hire to Hollywood
TV, Comic Books
If anyone thought it would be a race to the finish for the Memorial Day weekend box office, well, they were wrong.
Universal Pictures’ Fast & Furious 6 blew away Warner Bros.’ The Hangover Part III, grossing a projected $122.2 million for the four-day period, and easily claiming the top spot. The conclusion of Todd Phillips’ comedy series came in a distant second with a disappointing $63.8 million.
Overall, the box office brought in an anticipated $323 million, making this the biggest-ever Memorial Day weekend; the previous record-holder was 2011’s $276 Memorial Day weekend (coincidentally, when The Hangover Part II opened to the tune of $177.8 million, setting a new record for a comedy).
Star Trek Into Darkness came in third with $48 million, followed by closely by Epic with $44 million, and Iron Man 3 with $24.6 million.
