Lara Croft is getting closer to raiding some tombs on the big screen once again. Variety reports that the combined efforts of MGM, GK Films and Crystal Dynamics have recruited Marti Noxon to pen the new Tomb Raider movie.
Noxon, who’s best known for writing and producing with Joss Whedon on Buffy: The Vampire Slayer and Angel, has also done work on Mad Men, Grey’s Anatomy and Glee. The writer also has screenplay credits on the most recent version of Fright Night and the adaptation of I Am Number Four.
The most recent Tomb Raider game came out earlier this year developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Square Enix. Simply titled Tomb Raider, the game took a Batman Begins approach to the character, stranding her on an island where she honed the skills we’ve come to expect from her. Back in March Crystal’s head honcho Darrell Gallagher said the film was being developed alongside the game and that it would have no connection to the two Angelina Jolie movies that already exist.
