Axel-In-Charge: Extending "Secret Wars," Excitement for a "Totally Awesome Hulk"
Although we’ve known since February that Hayley Atwell would reprise her role as Peggy Carter in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, despite the actress saying only the month before that she wouldn’t, many presumed it would be for a flashback cameo. In fact, Atwell’s First Avenger c0-star Stanley Tucci, in confirming her appearance in the sequel, explicitly said “flashback scene.”
Now, however, we know that’s wrong, thanks to a photo leaked from the set of the Marvel film.
The image, snagged by the Cleveland Heights Patch, shows Atwell dressed as an elderly woman outside a house in the Cleveland suburb that’s been transformed into a nursing home for the movie. According to the website, the scene depicts Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers visiting with fellow World War II veterans.
Atwell, playing a much younger version of Peggy, also stars in her own “Marvel One-Shot” short film, which she teased may premiere next month a Comic-Con International.
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Captain America: The Winter Soldier features Marvel Cinematic Universe alums Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Sebastian Stan, Cobie Smulders, Haley Atwell, Toby Jones and Max Hernandez, along with newcomers Anthony Mackie, Emily VanCamp, Frank Grillo, Georges St-Pierre and Robert Redford. It opens April 4, 2014.
