Christian Bale Says He Definitely Won’t Play Batman in Justice League

Dark Knight Rises

While it doesn’t come as much of a surprise, Christian Bale has once and for all shot down persistent rumors that he may don the Batman costume again and reunite with Christopher Nolan for Warner Bros.’ long-planned Justice League movie.

“We were incredibly fortunate to get to make three,” Bale, who first wore the mask in 2005′s Batman Begins, tells Entertainment Weekly. “That’s enough. Let’s not get greedy. Chris always said he wanted to make it one film at a time. And we ended up sitting there looking at each other, saying ‘We’re about to make the third.’ We never really knew if we were going to get to be there, but if that was how it was going to be, this was where it should end as well.”

Bale said Warner Bros. hasn’t even contacted him about Justice League, but he’s perfectly fine with that. “I have no information, no knowledge about anything,” he said. “I’ve literally not had a conversation with a living soul. I understand that they may be making a Justice League movie, that’s it. It’s a torch that should be handed from one actor to another. So I enjoy looking forward to what somebody else will come up with.”

Warner Bros. and screenwriter David Goyer have said they’re going in a new direction for the character in Justice League, which is being written now.

Good! The Nolanverse Batman has no place in a Justice League. He was perfect for that world, but in the wider context of the DCU, he’s not smart enough, not good enough, and not well-enough equipped to hang with Superman and Wonder Woman

They should bring back Clooney as Batman, revealing that “Man of Steel” actually takes place in the Schumacher-verse!!

All I hope is that they stay true to the neo-fascist philosophy of the Nolanverse like Man of Steel did!

I don’t think it manners if he’s Batman in JL or not. I think that Warner Bros will blink and decide not to go forward with a JL movie after all. And I believe that Cavill as much as admitted it in an interview. I feel also that Warner Bros would be reluctant to go ahead without Bale as Batman in JL.

That movie will most likely never be made. They actor that played Green Lantern was better suited to play Flash or Deadpool. They will not be able to get the right Wonder Woman. Plopping a new Batman in that movie could endanger the character’s viability as a solo money making machine. The scripts are gonna suck, etc.
