Vaughan & Chiang's "Paper Girls" Builds a Familiar Yet Disconcerting World
After seeing RED, Helen Mirren is ready to take The Hundred-Foot Journey.
The Oscar-winning actress is one of the first names cast in The Hundred-Foot Journey, DreamWorks and director Lasse Hallstrom’s adaptation of the bestselling novel from author Richard Morais. It centers on an Indian family who moves to the south of France to open a restaurant across the street from a high-profile French restaurant. A culinary battle ensues — and judging by Mirren’s proficiency with a sniper rifle as the retired and extremely dangerous Victoria, we know who we’re betting on.
Mirren is set to play one of the two Hundred-Foot Journey leads, with relative unknown Manish Dayal cast in the other main role. Production is set to begin in France and India this September, with an August 8, 2014 release date planned. Steven Spielberg, Oprah Winfrey and Juliet Blake are producing.
