SDCC: "Batman: The Killing Joke" Cast & Crew Debuts Film at Comic-Con International
It seems likely that many of our questions about Guardians of the Galaxy will be answered in 12 days, during the Marvel Studios presentation at Comic-Con International in San Diego. While only studio President Kevin Feige, Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier have been announced, it’s highly probable that director James Gunn’s cosmic adventure will bet the Avengers treatment, with the full cast being brought onto the stage in Hall H.
But if you can’t wait that long to get the official word on which characters Karen Gillan, Benicio del Toro and Lee Pace are playing, the U.K. website Den of Geek contends it has confirmation from “a solid source.” None of the roles should come as that big of a surprise, but be warned of potential spoilers anyway.
The site reports that del Toro, who’s been said to have signed a multi-picture deal, will play the classic Marvel villain The Collector, long rumored as one of the film’s antagonists. Pace, meanwhile, is pegged as the Kree warrior Ronan the Accuser, who like his comic-book counterpart is believed to begin as a villain before revealing a more heroic side. And Doctor Who alum Gillan, Den of Geek says, will portray the ruthless space pirate Nebula. How Thanos fits into that mix remains to be seen.
Opening Aug. 1, 2014, Guardians of the Galaxy also stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Michael Rooker, David Bautista, John C. Reilly and Glenn Close.
