Marvel Promises ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Answers During Comic-Con Panel

Marvel is set to declassify Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. next week at Comic-Con International in San Diego, but it won’t pull back the curtain entirely.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Marvel’s convention plans include revealing the identity of J. August Richards’ character. “We’ll finally be able to answer some questions,” says co-showrunner Maurissa Tancharoen. “Though I’m sure we’ll have to stay on the vague end of the spectrum.”

With that in mind, don’t expect hard answers regarding Coulson’s resurrection. Indeed, we might not even get the full extent of how Coulson survived The Avengers by the end of the S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot; according to EW, Coulson’s contemporaries say he must “never know the truth” about his death.

“We can’t wait to pull the curtain back on that,” says Jed Whedon, Tancharoen’s co-showrunner and husband. “[But] we’re going to take our time.”

The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. panel, with announced guests Joss Whedon and Marvel’s Head of Television Jeph Loeb, will be held Friday, July 19.

I think the trick with coulson was that he was always an LMD, since Ironman, he died during the Iron Monger Attack.
That’s why in his first apperance he’s a disheveled disorganized company man who is ignorned and dismissed by everyone who sees him, and by the end, he’s a cool confident super agent.
He doesn’t know he’s an LMD, because it would drive him mad if he knew, but he’s the most advance bit of AI yet conceived, introduce Dr. Hank Pym, leading up to the Ant Man movie.
Fun thought…what if Coulson is Ultron!

I’ve watched The Avengers several times now, and after close examination, I do not believe that Agent Coulson actually died. First, he remained awake long enough after he was stabbbed to shoot Loki and then have a few words with Fury. Second, Fury announced that Agent Coulson was down, not dead. Then he announced that the medics “called it,” but didn’t say what exactly they called. Finally, Fury lied about Coulson’s Capt. America cards and where he found them. My theory is that Agent Coulson was seriously wounded, but not fatally. His actual health status may have been kept secret from The Avenger team even during Iron Man 3. This is just my theory. In any case, we’ll all find out soon enough.
