New ‘Wolverine’ Clip Takes a Swim

The Wolverine unleashes its signature berserker rage on Friday, and today brings a new clip to prove it.

Star Hugh Jackman and director James Mangold premiered a new Wolverine scene during a special HBO Advance Notice segment. In the clip, Logan crashes in on a very corrupt and very naked minister of justice, demanding answers — in 10 words or less. When Logan doesn’t like the answers he gets, the minister finds out firsthand what “berserker rage” is really all about.

Watch the scene below, then read on for Jackman’s reaction to the scene.

“I love that scene,” said the actor. “I think it really fits the perfect tone for Wolverine. This guy’s a douche. Everyone wanted me to throw him off the balcony after punching him in the head a few times.”

The Wolverine claws into theaters on July 26. Stay tuned to Comic Book Resources for our full review.

berzerker rage is used a little loosely for this.

Basically the same punch-line is used in Diamonds are Forever.

    I’m not impressed.

I liked it, but Wolvie throwing the baddie into the pool gives you a sense of the restrained tone a Wolverine film has to work within. I remember in the 80’s, he was lumped in with The Punisher and Ghost Rider (who both had terrible films), and it was because he was a violent anti-hero. As part of the X-men franchise, he’s less an anti-hero, than he is still a super hero. And I understand that and accept that as part of his films. It’s not that he can’t go really tough or get pissed or even kill people! But I don’t think we’ll ever get a true berserker rage out of a Hugh Jackman Wolverine movie. They have no choice but to go with a PG 13 rating every time. It’s just how it is. But I can still wish. Hopefully, when I go and see the actual movie, they’ll prove me wrong and he’ll go totally red eye and feral on some ninjas.
