Billy Bob Thornton Heads to ‘Fargo’
FX is digging down through the wood-chipper and pulling out Fargo, the Oscar-winning thriller from Joel and Ethan Coen, as a new limited series.
According to The Huffington Post, Billy Bob Thornton is set to lead the 10-episode limited series, playing Lorne Malvo, described in a press release as “a rootless, manipulative man who meets a small town insurance salesman and sets him on a path of destruction.” Some have compared Thornton’s character to Steve Buscemi’s murderous Carl Showalter from the original Coen Brothers movie. Regardless of the comparison, FX President John Landgraf promises an entirely new crime and story for Fargo, even if the series stays true to what made the film a classic.
“It’s hard to describe how remarkably true it is to the movie,” he said. “I’m going to be bold and say it will do justice to the Coen brothers’ film which is one of my favorite movies of all time.”
Fargo begins production this fall, with a premiere date yet to be revealed.
