Why The Russos Are The Best Thing to Happen to the MCU Since Joss Whedon
Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions have tapped Jack Reacher director Christopher McQuarrie to helm the next film in the Mission: Impossible franchise. McQuarrie will reunite with series star Tom Cruise, who has already signed on to reprise the role of Ethan Hunt. The director and actor have a history together — not only with the recent Jack Reacher, but also with Valkyrie in 2008, plus the upcoming film Edge of Tomorrow.
“I am thrilled to reunite with Chris for the latest installment in the Mission series,” said Cruise via press release. “I began producing the films with the goal that a different director with his own vision would make each one. Chris is an extraordinary filmmaker who will deliver the heart-pounding action and thrills that audiences around the world have come to expect from the Mission: Impossible franchise.”
The unnamed Mission: Impossible sequel is the fifth film in the franchise and is slated for a 2015 release.
