Latest ‘Amazing Spider-Man 2′ Photos Tease Sinister Six

Sony Pictures has released eight more images from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, including one photo that could hint at the villain — or, rather, villains — for the third installment of director Marc Webb’s rebooted franchise: the Sinister Six.

In Marvel comics, Doctor Octopus assembled the original Sinister Six — Vulture, Electro, Kraven the Hunter, Mysterio and Sandman — to defeat their nemesis Spider-Man. Obviously, the effort failed, but the Sinister Six (or Seven, or Twelve) returned again and again over the decades with an ever-changing roster that has included Hobgoblin, Beetle, Shocker, Chameleon, Lizard and even Venom. The Amazing Spider-Man already boasts Jamie Foxx as Electro, Paul Giamatti as The Rhino, Chris Cooper as Norman Osborn and Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn, so they’re just two members short.

Opening May 2, 2014, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 also stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Sally Field and Colm Feore.

How do you figure “they’re just two members short”? In the first movie we had The Lizard who has never been a part of and version of The Sinister Six, in this movie we’re getting Electro and Rhino and possibly introducing Vulture so that’s 3 out of 6. Harry Osborne has never been a Sinister Six member in any form, and the only time Norman was part of it was when he was unmasked as The Green Goblin and formed The Sinister Twelve in Marvel Knights Spider-Man/The Sensational Spider-Man (vol. 2).

You’re assuming the makers of the movie are going to stick to the comic book canon. It’s clear that the movies live in their own universe separate from the comics. The movie makers will basically put whoever they want into the Sinister 6.

With all the changes these films make from the comics, you really think it is important to not change the roster of a super-villain team that nobody outside of comic readers has heard of? It really isn’t. The movies are their own thing.

I agree with you, but hey If the movie is good and enjoyable its cool. Like you said its not the same a movie than a comic because they are two different things and some things that work in the comic doesn’t work out in the screen, is like Avengers movie, that never happened, it’s a mixed thing of Ultimates and Marvel universe (I mean the main one) so I don’t stick so much to the comic, if the movie, story, the acting, etc. are good, I’m fine with it!

A racist playing Electro!! How cool is that?!!

I hate to be Buzz Killington here, but couldn’t it just be the nickname for soundstage #6?

if they do Lizard, Electro, Rhino, Norm Osbourne as Green Goblin, Harry Osbourne as Hobgoblin, and the Vulture. that’s Six…..introduce Kraven in the 3rd and have Doc Ock put a team together…..Lizrd, Electro, Rhino, Vulture, Kraven, Doc Ock.

  • ThaCrow1982

Yes and although I enjoy the Marvel movies, I firmly believe that comic book movies should be made for comic book fans not to please the average know nothing movie goer.

  • ThaCrow1982

I like your second team idea much better, mostly because of one problem I have with your first team idea, namely the fact that Harry Osborn has never been Hobgoblin.

  • KremdelaKrem

I know he hasn’t I was only saying cuz him and norm are both in the film….and you can’t have two green goblins. so it might have been like one of those movie instance where they change something and then all us fan boys are pissed off. I still think they may wait till ASM 4 (remember it comes in 2018) to do Sinister Six
