UPDATE 8/22/2013 12:16 PM PT: The Hollywood Reporter cites sources that confirm Bradley Cooper is in talks to voice Rocket Raccoon. In addition to Cooper’s role in “Guardians of the Galaxy,” THR’s sources further confirm that Elizabeth Olsen is currently in negotiations to join “The Avengers: Age of Ultron” as the Scarlet Witch.

Marvel has gathered a stellar cast for director James Gunn’s space adventure Guardians of the Galaxy: Glenn Close, John C. Reilly, Benicio del Toro, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Chris Pratt, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Djimon Hounsou , Dave Bautista … Vin Diesel, most likely.

While the actors have most of the key roles covered, there’s still one yet to be filled: Rocket Raccoon. However, if Latino Review‘s sources are to be believed, that might not be the case for long.

The site contends Marvel has made an offer to Academy Award winner Bradley Cooper to voice the fan-favorite character.

Guardians of the Galaxy is filming now in London ahead of an Aug. 1, 2014 release.

In the past year, has ANYTHING Latino Review said been true?

It should be Academy-award nominee Bradley Cooper; he’s never won an Oscar.

An interesting idea. I always imagined Rocket with kind of a smart-ass, Bugs Bunny-esque American voice/attitude, rather than the gruffer British voice he’s had in cartoons.

interesting given how bradly has expressed interest in playing the marvel film universe but as doctor strange. if nothing else maybe voicing rocket racoon will be a fill in for him to later do dr. strange. should be interesting to hear bradly as rocket.

I’m sorry, was Mark Sheppard not available?

There’s only one right answer to the “who should voice Rocket Raccoon” question, and that answer is Bob Hoskins.

And, as a guy who can’t stand Bradley Cooper in any capacity, I REALLY hope this rumor is dead wrong.

I still think Slyvester Stallone would be perfect.

I can see Marvel going un-orthodox for Rocket and casting Louis CK

  • Big Cheese

I don’t understand why they didn’t get Jackie Chan as Rocket Raccoon was designed with his voice in mind.

There were always going to go one or two ways with it, suave and charming or hard nosed, looks like they’re going the suave and charming route.

Autocorrect is a fickle bitch, Simon.

I like Elizabeth Olsen, but I really can’t see her as Wanda. Not exotic enough.

I will accept no Rocket that is not H. Jon Benjamin.

Bradley Cooper? I’ve only see him in the first Hangover and the A-Team movie. And didn’t think he was that good. I was hoping that they’d go with My Name is Earl’s Jason Lee. He’s got a gruff but still higher register voice that’d work well for Rocket plus he’s done voice over work before. He voiced Syndrome in the Incredibles.
