‘Chronicle’s’ Max Landis Plans to Pitch Wonder Woman Movie to Warner Bros.

max landis Everyone wants to know what Max Landis would do with established superheroes. The writer of the found-footage super-power movie Chronicle impressed a lot of people with the story of three teenage friends who deal with their newfound telekinetic powers.

Landis, who recently revealed his idea for a DC Comics project that never materialized, was asked on Reddit about other comic characters he’d like to work on, and replied: ā€œ[Iā€™d like to do] either a version of Green Lantern that played like ET meets Stand By Me using the goth/punk seen and Kyle Rayner, or Wonder Woman, using a pitch that I intend to make to WB.ā€

So, what does all this mean? Honestly, not too much. There’s probably a small army of screenwriters with varying levels of clout trying to pitch Warner Bros. on its best-known superheroine. Hopefully, this potential plethora of pitches will help give the studio plenty of solid options to pick from, and we’ll eventually get a killer Wonder Woman movie.

Kyle Rayner, yes! That’s the beauty of the Green Lantern franchise / mythos… they don’t have to wait years to try again or even reboot, just use another Earth GL. If the first one didn’t work, try with a new character. If the second one works, bring the two together in the next one.

As much as i would love to see Kyle Rayner on the big screen as Green Lantern i’m sure WB would use John Stewart or reboot Hal Jordan before considering him.

    Goth/Punk Green Lantern. Seems legit.

Odds are that a Green Lantern film won’t the light of day until after the Justice League movie opens – and only if it does phenomenally well. But the JL film will almost certainly be the recently-rebooted “all-star” Justice League, with Hal Jordan.
But I’d like to see a Green Lantern movie that figures out a way to use the secondary Earth Lanterns (Kyle, Guy, John), but that may be unrealistic. Maybe someday, if the next GL film does well enough to garner some sequels…
