I feel like Moffat is trolling Rose/10 shippers here. Why would Billie Piper sign on for something so potentially damaging and insulting??? :-/

  • Norman

Alistaircrane what are you talking about??

  • slakat

what are you talking about? The most curious thing in the trailer is Rose Tyler/Bad Wolf; everybody thought she would be Ten’s companion, but it seems we were wrong and something more interesting is coming. I’m up for te surprise, it’s a nice plot twist.

  • Just Sayin’

If that’s the same alistaircrane that comments over at TVLine (and it almost certainly is) then don’t expect much sense from anything he says. It rarely happens.

The Rose/Not Rose reveal was one of my favourite parts of the trailers, and considering I loved the hell out of both of them, that’s saying something.

  • alistaircrane

No it’s not a “nice” plot twist. It’s potentially extremely damaging to Rose and the Doctor’s romance.

  • Just Sayin’

No, it’s not damaging to the romance. In any way. At all.

    Next complaint please.

  • alistaircrane

Yes it is. It looks like there’s going to be a major Rose retcon, or worse, she’s going to be evil. THAT is damaging to the romance. In every way.

  • batGRRRl4ever

If you’ve watched any of the 11th Doctor episodes, you will know that in time travel there is a lot of potential causality loops. These events can also simply be things that Rose and 10 already did, but we are just seeing them now. After all, 11 and River alluded to having many adventures we the viewers haven’t seen.

  • LightningBug

Wow! Way to assume you know what is going on from a couple of minute long trailers. Your powers of deduction are truly impressive! Also, stop talking about Rose/10 as if they are holy prophets and just enjoy yourself. I’ll also remind you that several of the best adventures of the 10th doctor were written by Moffat, so it’s not like he’s just randomly misunderstanding the character. Seriously. STOP PANICKING AND HAVE FUN.

  • alistaircrane

Correction: the best adventures of the Tenth Doctor were written by DAVIES. Moffat is a hack and a half.

  • alistaircrane

Also, I’m deeply invested in the Rose/Doctor romance, and I just don’t trust Moffat to get it right. He’s already gotten it wrong by having Rose interact only with John Hurt and not David Tennant.

  • LightningBug

She’s only interacted with Hurt IN THE ONE MINUTE TRAILER. You have seen literally less than a 90th of this show and you’re tweaking. It is impossible for him to have “already gotten it wrong” since we’ve seen a cosmically insignificant amount of the story. A normal human being would be curious about why Rose isn’t with Tennant in the micro-seconds that she was on screen, and it would raise in them a feeling of intrigue or curiosity, rather than whatever blood-boiling histrionic meltdown you seem to be experiencing.

Then again, I should know better than to bait a troll, since we all know what you are going to do next, which is to unselfconsciously reiterate everything you’ve already said as if it were a new and original point that you are just now concocting.

  • demoncat_4

cool finaly the time war looked at from that trailer. and maybe rose is being set up to be the new master as a twist. though a better 50th thing would have been teaming up all the versions of the doctor and companions using cgi for those who have passed on. against the daleks and all the doctors foes. and rose turning into the master during the thing.

  • Just Sayin’

    1) Doctor Who is not a show about a romance. It’s a show about the story of a Time Lord and everything else is secondary to that. B… no… 2) If you were half as good a writer as that ‘hack’ Moffat, as you like to describe him, you would understand that there are countless ways to utilize Rose in this story that don’t involve retconning of any kind. It being a show about time travel and all. 3 or C) Any fan of Doctor Who who bases his or her enjoyment of the story on shipping is massively getting it wrong.

  • Sean Walsh

Why does it have to be CGI? There is already precedent for new actors to play existing Doctors.

  • alistaircrane

There’s no “right” way to enjoy a show. Clearly you’re anti-romance (and probably can’t get a date because you’re a miserable shrew), but loads of fans love the romantic elements. All reasons for liking Who are valid. The romance between the Doctor and his companions is the main appeal to me and many other fans.

  • alistaircrane

Nobody wants to see new actors taking over iconic roles for a 50th anniversary special. The fake Hartnell in The Five Doctors was distracting and annoying, and it still hasn’t been properly explained why the First Doctor looked like an entirely different person without a regeneration. I want CGI Hartnell, Troughton, and Pertwee, and BBC had better damn well deliver!

  • Just Sayin’

“Probably can’t get a date because you’re a miserable shrew”? What are we? Shakespeare in the Playground? Only reason I can’t get a date right now is because my girlfriend has issues with me seeing other girls. She’s old fashioned like that. And I’m anti-shippers. There’s a difference.

Given that I seem to remember you saying something along the lines of you only ever watched Dexter to see him get caught and punished for the murders he committed, I guess I should know better than to expect you to watch Who for actual science fiction stories. Because obviously it’s clearly all about the romance.

    Unbelievable!

  • Just Sayin’

“And BBC had better damn well deliver”?

Or what? You’ll carry on calling Moffat a hack? Maybe find out where he lives and post pictures of Ten and Rose through his letter box as a warning?

Ridiculous child. You’re one of those people that makes being a fan of this type of show truly embarrassing.

  • demoncat_4

true that would work too. but old fans may prefer even a cgi version of the original actors like Hartnel, and proably espisically Liz sladen

  • Tom

I’m not sure you could do that in the modern age. The precedent you speak of was set in 1983 when many viewers probably hadn’t seen the first doctor (or hadn’t seen him in a long time). In 1983 VCR penetration was around 13% and we know the BBC wasn’t running re-runs of the first or second doctor (since they’d started destroying the episodes to reuse the film meaning they obviously hadn’t been used in a while). So there weren’t a lot of opportunities.

I doubt the average Doctor Who fan would even have photographs of Hartnell. Doctor Who Magazine didn’t even exist until the Tom Baker era.

Regardless I don’t think Moffat and crew would remind us of what they looked like in “The Name Of The Doctor” and the first trailer if they had any plans to recast.

  • Sean Walsh

I am an old fan and I do not prefer CGI no matter how far it’s come. There would still need to be voice actors to perform the audio. It’s acting. There have always been new actors playing existing roles. It’s like saying that only David Niven should play James Bond.

  • alistaircrane

Quit stalking me, freak. You’ve made it a point to follow me from board to board, making sure you reply to EVERY SINGLE POST I make. It’s nice to have a fan club, but you’re entertaining into Mark David Chapman territory, freak.

  • alistaircrane

Quit stalking me, freak. You’ve made it a point to follow me from board to board, making sure to reply to EVERY SINGLE POST I make. It’s nice to have a fan club, but you’re entering into Mark David Chapman territory, creep.

  • Just Sayin’

No, you just happen to be repeating the same ridiculous comments and unsupported plot theories in two places I happen to frequent. That’s not stalking. That’s an unhappy coincidence. Unhappy for me I mean because it means I have to see your shipping nonsense in two entirely different threads.

If you want to resort to name calling and daft accusations then go ahead but it won’t change the fact that you’re wrong. Come back after you’ve seen the 50th episode and tell me then what you think, because you clearly haven’t worked out what’s going to happen yet.

  • slakat

YES! I love Rose, but this twist is a lot more interesting than watching old Rose+Ten dynamic.

  • Just Sayin’

Having it be that straightforward would have been nigh on impossible anyway, when you think about it. There’s no point in the timeline of when The Doctor was traveling with Rose that this meeting with his future self could actually have happened without them losing their memories of the event afterwards. In fact there’s only one point in Ten’s life where this actually could have happened, and the trailer makes that all too clear. Love how it all fits together so well.

  • alistaircrane

Again with the stalking. I have never been flamed, trolled or baited by anyone the way you are doing to me. Freaky, nasty creep! P.S. Shipping isn’t “nonsense”. It’s an extremely popular form of fandom. Google it, you pathetic, miserable, single loser!

  • Just Sayin’

You know what else is a popular form of fandom? Watching the episodes before making ludicrous assumptions about something with no evidence or idea whatsoever about what you are talking about.

And again, you’re the one taking the personal attack route and name calling. I’m calling you out on a specific subject, directly relating to the article topic, that you yourself started by bringing a non-relevant issue into the conversation. You answered that with stalking accusations and insults. If you don’t want someone to disrespect you then don’t make it personal. Especially when you clearly haven’t a clue about the personal life of the person you’re talking to. Just makes you look silly.

Okay, in an effort to make peace (because I’m such a pathetic loser…) I’ll say again, watch the episode before judging the Ten/Rose situation. I don’t get or like the shipping thing but if that is really what floats your boat then trust me when I say, you don’t need to worry.

  • arandomperson7

The rose/doctor romance was the worst thing to happen to the new series

  • Guy Schiavone

Haha…deeply invested. Time Lord. More like Gay Lord. Haha

  • GuySchiavone

You would be more interested if the companion had a wang!!

  • Guy Schiavone

I can also Google “scat love” or “japanese anime love doll marriage”…just because it exists on the internet doesn’t make it sensible. Shipping sucks, so does your boyfriend.

  • Guy Schiavone

    13% of people penetrated VCR’s?!

  • Just Sayin’

    Hah!

This needs adding to the list of comments that I wish I’d made myself but didn’t. Cheers for the grin! :)

  • alistaircrane

Wrong. It was the whole main reason to watch the new series.

  • blend

YOU’R RIGHT! AND I’M SOOO HAPPY THAT BILLIE PIPER AND PETER CAPAULDI ARE TOGETHER THEY ARE THE PERFECT MATCH!
