Evangeline Lilly Recalls ‘Wonder Woman’ Audition

Gal Gadot has the honor of being the first big-screen Wonder Woman, making her debut in 2015′s untitled Man of Steel sequel. But over the years, there have been numerous attempts to make a live-action Wonder Woman film, most famously a Joss Whedon adaptation that never got off the ground.

During one of these failed attempts at Wonder Woman, and quite possibly during the Whedon era, Lost star Evangeline Lilly was one of the actors up for the title role.

“I actually went in and met on Wonder Woman at one point,” Lilly recently revealed to MTV while promoting The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. “Before the thing fell apart. That was early, that was the first season of Lost before I went, ‘Wait a minute, I don’t know if I want to do this!’”

It never worked out for Lilly, but the actress contends that Wonder Woman was always her “favorite superhero as a little girl.”

“I still have a huge girl crush on Wonder Woman,” she said. “I think she’s amazing.”

Most of the times this woman speaks, all I see is some hottie trying to sound nerdy so we buy her shit.

This would be the 2001 era movie Joel Silver tried to get off the ground with screenwriter Todd Alcott (Antz), for which Sandra Bullock was also tested.

  • seksivitez

    Bullock would have been awful.

I am looking less and less forward to the new Man of Steel as time goes on. Way too much of a pure Hollywood A list film.

Man of Steel suffered from movie star itus. You do not see the characters- you see the stars.

With the latest casting of Wonder Woman, this is shaping up to look like a SyFy network crapfest.

I’m pretty sure it was for the 2005-era film Joss Whedon was hired for . . .

ah yes, bringing back the always tasteful “fake geek girl” meme. Lovely.

At all. It only happens with her :) She sounds fake as fuck. The same when I see some muscular actor say that he’d been a Batman/Superman fan since forever. But, hey, sexism alert!! The Horror! Light the torches and shove them up your asses :)

Bullock would have been hideous in this role.

  • RodimusBen

Evie is a true-blue. She’ll always be one of my favorites thanks to LOST. Can’t wait to see her as Tauriel!

  • Muggle

Some of those muscular actors may have been training because they wanted to be built like their favorite heroes.

Best not to judge people by looks.

She doesn’t have the right build either but it is an improvement over Gadot.

Way to be a horrible person and look down at those who love what you love, just not as much as you.
