Creepy ‘Conjuring’ Doll to Get Her Own Spinoff

Spinoffs may be the future for horror franchises, first with Blumhouse’s success with Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones and now New Line’s strategy in the wake of The Conjuring.

TheWrap reports part of the plan involves a spinoff focusing on the original film’s Annabelle. See, The Conjuring starred Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, who had a room in which they stored possessed items from their cases. Among them was a creepy doll named Annabelle.

While story details haven’t been revealed, New Line has hired The Conjuring cinematographer John Leonetti to direct, based on a script by Gary Dauberman (Bloodmonkey). Annabelle Wallis (X-Men: First Class, Peaky Blinders) and Ward Horton (One Life to Live, The Wolf of Wall Street) will star in undisclosed roles. And, for some more continuity between projects, The Conjuring director James Wan will be on board as a producer.
