Vaughan & Chiang's "Paper Girls" Builds a Familiar Yet Disconcerting World
Dwayne Johnson, a contender for the title of Busiest Actor in Hollywood, is heading to HBO with a half-hour comedy he’ll executive produce with his Pain & Gain co-star Mark Wahlberg.
Deadline reports the cable network has given a series order to Ballers, which examines the lives of current and former football players. Johnson is joined in the cast by Omar Benson Miller, John David Washington (son of Denzel Washington), Rob Corddry, Troy Garity, Donovan Carter, Jazmyn Simon, Taylor Cole and LeToya Luckett.
The comedy is based on an idea by Stephen Levinson (Entourage), who wrote the pilot and will executive produce alongside Johnson, Wahlberg, Hiram Garcia, Evan Reilly and Peter Berg. The pilot is directed by Berg.
