‘Farscape’ Movie is in the Works

More than a decade after Farscape ended, fans have reason to be cautiously optimistic: According to a recent post on, there’s a film in the works. While reporting about a show that writer Justin Monjo sold to HBO, the site causally mentioned that he’s also working on a Farscape feature script and that series co-creator Brian Henson will direct.

However, while co-creator Rockne S. O’Bannon confirmed the development, he also emphasized the project is in the early stages. “We’ve always said a movie is a passion of ours,” he wrote on Twitter. “Justin’s script is just an exploratory step. But we want what you want!!”

Airing from 1999 to 2003, Farscape began with astronaut John Crichton (Ben Browder) accidentally traveling through a wormhole and being picked up by a creature called Moya that acts as a living spaceship. While on board, Crichton met a group of aliens on the run from the poorly named Peacekeepers, and the show developed from there.

According to, the movie “would follow John and Aeryn’s son, D’Argo (or Little D, as we will always refer to him). Because their baby was exhibiting a set of interesting powers that made him a magnet for galactic villains, we find that John and Aeryn hide their son on Earth to grow up. Now the kid is 19 and ready to go into space with his parents.”

Farscape at it’s absolute best blew anything any of the Star Trek spin-offs or Stargate franchises produced completely out of the water. Although if a movie does happen then they simply HAVE to find some way to resurrect Zahn!
