Doctor Doom Shortlist Reportedly Narrowed to Four, Appropriately Enough

Director Josh Trank finalized his Fantastic Four actors last month, but now he’s trying to nail down the Fox reboot’s primary villain: a certain Doctor Doom.

According to TheWrap, the studio is eyeing Sam Riley (Control, Maleficent), Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables, Jupiter Ascending), Toby Kebbell (The Counselor, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) and Domhnall Gleeson (Dredd, Unbroken) for the role of the Fantastic Four’s arch-nemesis. Many of these names were brought up earlier in the casting process, along with Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire), whom The Hollywood Reporter’s Borys Kit seems to suggest is still a contender.

Whoever gets the part will face off against Miles Teller as Mr. Fantastic, Michael B. Jordan as the Human Torch, Kate Mara as Invisible Woman and Jamie Bell as The Thing. The film is scheduled for release on June 19, 2015.

I guess they really want Doom to be skinny.

This reboot casting… I am so annoyed with everything I hear associated with this movie. Why don’t they go ahead and cast Christopher Mintz-Plasse

It should all be about the voice, not the appearance. A sense of imposing regality and menace and the utter conviction that he is the superior man. This is a man who rules a nation and makes himself feared enough so as to be adored by his people. If one of them can get all of that down behind the confines of a metal mask and a flowing green cloak, they’ll be perfect.

Hate to break it to you but NONE of those actors they’re looking at are old enough to be running a country as a monarch… This movie is going to suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

There’s a 31-year old running a country right now in the form of Kim Jong-un, what’s not to believe about that?

You are right that this is going to suck, though.

Sam riley was great in control. I hope he gets it.

Jack Huston is awesome. He’d make a great Doom. It feels like they only suggested his name for Doom because he wears a mask on Boardwalk Empire. When I see stuff like that it makes me think it is just someone tossing names out.

    what no female Doom?
why don’t go ahead and ruin the whole movie?

None of these choices thrill me. They are casting too young. Doom needs a veteran actor with a demanding presence if you ask me.

What would be great if they went with someone older. They could tweak the origin that Doom is Reed’s teacher trying to bring his mother back to life and its based off Reed’s incomplete research. Reed discovers what Doom is trying to do, figures out that it won’t work, boom, origin solved.
