James Robinson's "Squadron Supreme" Takes Lethal, Pre-Emptive Action
There’s no busting the rumors of a third Ghostbusters movie, it seems. Indeed, it appears that new directors have already filled the void left by the departure of Ivan Reitman: Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the filmmakers responsible for 21 Jump Street and The LEGO Movie.
Nikki Finke first tweeted about the possibility, which TheWrap later confirmed. Lord and Miller are hot commodities at Sony, thanks to their previous successes. Given fans’ hesitation to get behind a new Ghostbusters movie, especially in light of Harold Ramis’ death, it makes sense for the studio to put its next big franchise in Lord and Miller’s hands.
As for Reitman, the director of the first two Ghostbusters movies announced his intentions to leave the franchise (while remaining aboard as producer) following Ramis’ tragic passing. It’s expected the new Ghostbusters will enter production by 2015.
