‘Helix’ renewed for second season
“Helix has built one of our most loyal and consistent audiences in its first season on Syfy,” said Bill McGoldrick, Syfy’s executive vice president of original content, in a press release. “The incredibly talented writing and producing team have crafted a thriller that consistently delivered suspense, twists and high quality drama. We look forward to growing this passionate audience in what promises to be an even more memorable second season.”
Executive produced by Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica), the science fiction thriller premiered in January and featured a team from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention traveling to a research facility in the Arctic Circle after receiving a distress call. Once there, they discovered a mysterious virus outbreak that transforms the infected, which include the brother of the lead scientist (played by The Rocketeer‘s Billy Campbell). The show was created by co-executive producer Cameron Porsandeh and also stars Hiroyuki Sanada, Kyra Zagorsky and Mark Ghanimé.
