‘Bates Motel’ Renewed For Third Season

Here’s some good news for all you psychos out there: Norma and Norman Bates will remain in business for at least another year.

A&E has renewed Bates Motel for a 10-episode third season, which will begin production this fall. It’s now in the middle of Season 2.

Inspired by Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 classic Psycho, the thriller is a contemporary exploration of the formative years of Norman Bates’ relationship with his mother Norma and the the town of White Pine Bay, Oregon (in the film, it was Fairvale, California).

“The incredible writing team and talented Bates Motel cast has made this series one of the most compelling original dramas on television,” A&E’s David McKillop said in a statement. “The brilliant twists and turns of the past two seasons keep its loyal fan base coming back for more. We are so proud of the show.”

Bates Motel stars Vera Farmiga and Freddie Highmore, and comes courtesy of executive producers and writers Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin.
