Scarlet Witch Doesn’t Appear in ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’

It was certainly understandable when, in January, X-Men: Days of Future Past unveiled a photo of Evan Peters’ Quicksilver with a little girl clad in pink that many fans and websites presumed she was the film’s version of Wanda Maximoff, the future Scarlet Witch. But it turns out she’s not; the Scarlet Witch doesn’t even appear in the Fox sequel.

“Is that the Scarlet Witch? No, that’s his little sister,” director Bryan Singer told Empire before he withdrew from promoting the film. However, at one point he’d planned to drop in an indirect reference to Wanda.

“I even had a line which I cut, where Quicksilver’s mother says to the little girl, ‘Go up and bug your sister,’ and the little girl says, ‘She bugs me!'” he recalled. “You never see the older sister, but it was to imply that there is an older sister for comic book fans. I ended up cutting it.”

Fans of the character will have to wait to see her in Joss Whedon’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron, where she’s played by Elizabeth Olsen.

    What a cop-out

Ohhh….so does that make her a retooled Lorna?
Whether yes or no, I’ve come to loathe the Fox Marvelverse, so so very much.

So, one thing I hate about the X-men movies is that they cram way too many characters in a movie. They have them there as half-baked filler characters. I’d rather them just have a movie with 4 or 5 characters that have a decent amount of screen time. One big bad with a few henchmen. I don’t need characters that just flex or look menacing with no lines. Hopefully, this movie can “reboot” the Fox Marvelverse.

So why did he not just use Northstar again?

“You never see the older sister, but it was to imply that there is an older sister for comic book fans. I ended up cutting it.” So instead, I decided to piss off a lot of comic book fans by completely ruining everything else

SHe looks like a ventriloquist doll, just sitting there in his lap like that. “Say hello to the nice folks, Peanut.”
    “Hello, Folks.”

Its the X-Men though they always been a large group. You really cant have 4 or 5 characters in an X men film.

They haven’t always been a large group. In fact, I believe that they don’t try to fit every single character into every single X-book. They have several books focusing on a portion on the characters. Seems to me they could have a ton of X-movies out, focusing on each X-team. You could still have cameos of the other teams, like Wolverine in X-Men First Class, just so people can see the more characters. I just don’t see the point of having characters in s movie just because you can. If they don’t add to the story in a meaningful way, why bother?

she’s in the movie, just about 1-2 seconds
