James Marsden on His ‘X-Men’ Future: ‘It’s Out of My Hands’
Just about every mutant that ever was is getting in on the action in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Everybody, it seems, except Cyclops.
James Marsden’s Scott Summers won’t appear in the upcoming sequel, which combines the casts of the original X-Men trilogy with the younger generation of X-Men: First Class. There’s a good reason, too — or, at least, a reason — as Cyclops died in X-Men: The Last Stand. Then again, so did Professor Xavier, yet Patrick Stewart us somehow involved in the movie. Why does Chuck get a pass, and not Scott?
Marsden isn’t dwelling on it too much, but in an interview with Crave Online, he made it clear he’d love to suit up one more time.
“I’ve always been very proud of my role and it’s out of my hands,” he said. “It’s nice to see Bryan [Singer] go back in and turn the boat a little bit. I’m happy for those that made it back. I’d like to. I get excited watching the trailers because I’m excited for the continuance of the X-Men world. I’m a fan of X-Men and I know it’ll be a kick-ass movie.”
A very diplomatic answer indeed. Perhaps we’ll see Cyclops again on the big-screen at some point down the line — just don’t count on it happening later this month.
