UPDATE: "The Flash" Hasn't Cast Savitar, Says Berlanti
TV, Comic Books
Fans clamoring for a superhero film starring Scarlett Johansson get excited, as Luc Besson’s Lucy appears poised to fill that void. No, it’s not based on an existing comic, but the drug mule-turned-super-powered-avenger film does find the actress wielding a variety of weapons and powers as she taps into previously unused portions of her brain.
The new Portuguese trailer shows off some new footage of Johansson running around, taking aim at bad guys and using a variety of powers, from magnetic manipulation to super-senses.
Here’s the film’s official synopsis:
From La Femme Nikita and The Professional to The Fifth Element, writer/director Luc Besson has created some of the toughest, most memorable female action heroes in cinematic history. Now, Besson directs Scarlett Johansson in Lucy, an action-thriller that tracks a woman accidentally caught in a dark deal who turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic.
Lucy, which also stars Morgan Freeman, opens Aug. 8.
