Conan, what is best in life? How about a teaser poster and release date for “The Legend of Conan”?

Courtesy of joblo.com and theArnoldFans.com comes a poster for The Legend of Conan, which sees Arnold Schwarzenegger reprising the role of the Robert E. Howard character he brought to the screen back in the 1980s. The poster appeared at the Cannes Film Festival this week in France. The poster also gives a targeted release date — December 2015.

The film is being produced by Chris Morgan with a screenplay by Andrea Berloff. The general story revolves around an older Conan, now king, wanting to get back to doing what he does best — crushing the skulls of his enemies.

So… This will be about Conan sitting in his throne governing over his people and dealing with politics.
All joking aside, I hope this movie does justice to the series.

  • mel

I highly doubt it will be based on any REH story but here’s hoping.

  • babennett

There are a few R.E.Howard Conan stories that fit the bill for this. All dealing with King Conan. Phoenix and the Sword comes to mind.

  • bandoogiemanz

Man, looking at that pic totally reminds me of Gilad Anni-Padda, the main character of the current Eternal Warrior comic written by Greg Pak. I think it’s a pretty good comic worth reading.

That…….looks like Tom Hanks. Poster designer needs to step back from the photoshop.

  • mel

Yeah, if they adapted Hour of the Dragon as a trilogy it would be awesome.

  • Chris McGhee

    Oh YEAH!

  • Jonny_anonymous

Schwarzenegger is and always has been the worst depiction of Conan so far, he is nothing like character, instead he’s just a meat head in a loin cloth.

  • Art Salmons

    Try reading his book.

  • thedarkpoet

That’s not King Conan. It’s King Clownan.

  • Sentry616

Your opinion is wrong and you should feel bad.

  • Terry Allen

No thanks , Arnie has never been and will never be the real Conan !

  • Jonny_anonymous

I’ve read all Howards books and Schwarzenegger’s portrayal is nothing like them. Conan is a cunning, morose smart warrior that movies like a big cat. Schwarzenegger’s Conan is a bumbling moron that movies like a walrus.

  • Jonny_anonymous

    No it’s not and no I shouldn’t.

  • Sentry616

Yes it is and yes you should.

  • Jonny_anonymous

Have you ever even read Conan before?

  • Sentry616

Yes, and Jason Momoa is orders of magnitude worse than Schwarzenegger. So your opinion is wrong. Accept it.

  • stevedilks

This poster was not at Cannes. It is a fan job and nothing more.

  • mel

Momoa was way closer to REH’s Conan. Smart, fast, etc. Even his appearance was pretty spot on, except for the eyes. Maybe you should actually pick up a book, because you have no idea what you’re talking about.

  • Sentry616

Opinions are like arseholes, everyone has one, and yours is a festering, puss leaking, stretched out abomination and no one wants to see it. You are wrong and no amount of pontificating will change that. The Conan the Adventurer cartoon is better than that abortion of a movie.

  • Adam Martin

Sentry616 you sir win the internet for today.

  • Sentry616

I do what is right and just, no more, no less.

  • Jonny_anonymous

Except what you think is right is totally wrong. It doesn’t matter a fucking thing whether you liked the Moamoa film or not, the fact is that is a far more accurate portrayal of the character than Arnie has ever done.

  • Sentry616

Nope, still wrong. Momoa sucks diseased goat dick compared to Arnie.

  • Nick Boelen

It’s not even an opinion, it’s a fact. You probably only know Conan from the Schwarzenegger movies. That said, I do enjoy the Conan movies.

  • Sentry616

You might need to get a new dictionary because I don’t think you know what “fact” means. It dosen’t mean “gigantic steaming pile of bullshit illustrating my lack of knoweledge and taste”

  • Nick Boelen

Howard’s Conan is smart, agile and knows multiple languages. Schwarzenegger’s Conan is a dumb brute, far from agile and hardly speaks english.
So as a fact, ( yes, it is a fact) Schwarzenegger’s Conan is nothing like Howard’s Conan, pretty much the opposite really.

  • Sentry616

You keep using that word. I don’t think you know what it means.

  • Nick Boelen

I know that you don’t want to accept that you’re wrong. That movie Conan is so far different from Howard Conan is something you can’t disagree with if you know what you’re talking about.
If you do than tell me why, all you’re saying is ”you don’t know what fact means.” So enlighten me, give me a good reason why movie conan is a good portrayal of Howards Conan.

  • Sentry616

Why? Because I’m right and you are wrong. I thought I made that clear. Also learn the difference between “than” and “then”. The two words are not interchangeable which only strengthens my position that you don’t know what the word “fact” means.

  • Nick Boelen

And still no reasons and circumventing the subject, I know enough.

  • Sentry616

You know enough, but not English or Conan. Also if you don’t like your own posts, why post them? Thats is just confusing.

  • Nick Boelen

    Sure dude.

  • Sentry616

Glad you see it my way.

  • Nick Boelen

I don’t, but there’s no reasoning with trolls, so why try?

  • Sentry616

But you were doing so well, don’t quit now. Do I need to step it up? What if I called you a nigger or a faggot? would that make you feed me more?

  • rob

… thanks now I cant unsee it.

  • Mombasa69

I’ve read the books too, lol Conan wasn’t that smart, cunning, fast and cheesy but smart no. Arnold is and always will be the best choice.

  • Rabensblut

Conan was very wise but he was a Cimmerian who never understood the civilised ways, even if he tried to, but wise and smart he was, he was leading people to battle and aftewards he was leader of the Aquilonian empire, so he had to be smart…

In film he is portrayed as a 10 years coward, a dumbass who is pushing a wheel…aside from many other things… as well Milius used S. De Camps scene with the Atlantean sword and the mummy…

But to make it clear, Milius’ Conan is still the best Conan movie around, but not the portrayal… (if you switch the name I would say the best was Scorpion King, there I had the feeling like finally watching a Conan movie, even if without Conan)

  • Hugo Danner

CCCRROOMMM!! Grant me a Block Buster for X-Mas!

  • A G

    Still his best work IMO.

  • Dale C Twigg

Since when is Conan a ginger?

  • Joe Ruck

Sentry616 who gives a sh#t if Arnies Conan wasn’t like the books, the movie is awesome and one of my faves that I can watch over and over, so i’m with you bro. Momoas was crap and that sure as hell is a FACT, NICK! Movies hardly ever stick to the source material, but if it works..it works! I’ve read the books, the comics and magazines, THEY ALL DIFFER IN DEPICTIONS! That movie just rocked, matter of fact, I think i’ll see it right now for the umpteenth time. Hail Arnie, Hail Conan! lol

  • McMacBack

    Said no one

  • Bam Bamisem

I pray to CRUM that this WILL take place!!
