DC Comics' "Rebirth" Character Designs for Batman, Wonder Woman and More
As we noted on Tuesday, Juliette Lewis has joined the cast of Jem and the Holograms — but it turns out she’s not alone.
According to the Los Angeles Times, 1980s teen-movie staple Molly Ringwald has also signed on to director Jon M. Chu’s live-action adaptation of the animated series. And much like Lewis, Ringwald’s role hasn’t been revealed.
Announced in March, the film stars Aubrey Peeples (Nashville) as Jem, Stefanie Scott (Flipped) as Kimber, Hayley Kiyoko (Scooby-Doo! Curse of the Lake Monster) as Aja, Aurora Perrineau (Pretty Little Liars) as Shana and Ryan Guzman as Jem’s love interest Rio.
The original cartoon followed the adventures of young woman who transforms into a pink-haired pop star with the help of Synergy, a holographic supercomputer built by her late father, Chu’s take is said to center on an orphaned teen who becomes an online recording sensation. She then sets out on an adventure through Los Angeles in an effort to unlock a final message left by her father.
