Laugh It Up, Fuzzball: ‘Star Wars’ Gets ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’-Style Trailer

It doesn’t seem likely that Peter Quill and Han Solo will join forces in either of the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy or Star Wars: Episode VII — even if it’s not entirely out of the realm of possibility, considering both franchises exist under Disney’s massive roof.

Much more likely is that we’ll continue seeing mashups of the two Disney-owned properties, like this:

A Star Wars trailer, recut with the same musical cues (including “Spirit in the Sky” and “Hooked on a Feeling”) and the overall funky vibe of the latest theatrical Guardians of the Galaxy trailer. We always knew Chewbacca and Groot had something in common.

Guardians of the Galaxy opens on Aug. 1, while the next new Star Wars movie arrives on Dec. 18, 2015.

    Actually, pretty good trailer.

Makes you wonder if we’ve just gotten better at advertising mediocre movies. Star Wars did have a boring retro trailer.

  • Joshua Tienda

We have gotten better, trailers make crap films looks like masterpieces.

I was thinking whilst watching too: over editing makes crap movies seem great. Think about how many vapid action movies get rave reviews now despite having a fraction of the depth or substances of 70s movies.

Why wasn’t Star Wars *actually* this good?!
