Zachary Quinto Doesn’t See ‘Heroes’ in His Future

As of now, only one former Heroes actor is returning for NBC’s upcoming Heroes: Reborn miniseries: Jack Coleman, the man behind the Horn-Rimmed Glasses.

Here’s someone who won’t be joining Coleman for the show’s revival: Zachary Quinto. The Star Trek actor, who played the brain-dissecting chameleon Sylar for the original four seasons, says he doesn’t expect to return, in part because of scheduling issues.

“I’ve been in touch with Tim [Kring, creator] and he told me they were doing this and we left the door open for me to be involved,” he told IGN, “The trouble is really my availability. I don’t know that it would really even be possible.”

Beyond his availability, Quinto said he’s not sure he should revisit a role as iconic as Sylar, preferring to leave it in the past.

“That experience and role and opportunity really changed my life completely and sent me on a path that I might not have otherwise have been on,” he said, “but at the same time I’m very interested in forward momentum, I’m very interested in expanding and defying people’s expectations of me. I don’t know that going back to such a definitely iconic character would necessarily do that.”

Quinto added that he hasn’t received an official offer, so he hasn’t had to confront accepting or rejecting a Heroes return. But from his comments, it sounds like he’s leaning toward “no.”

Likewise, Ali Larter, who appeared as numerous (arguably too many) characters on Heroes, confirmed she won’t reprise her role on Reborn. “Not that I didn’t love Heroes and loved working on it,” she told TVGuide.com, “but I’m just at a different stage of my life.”

Heroes: Reborn premieres in 2015.

“Likewise, Ali Larter, who appeared as numerous (arguably too many) characters on Heroes, confirmed she reprise her role on Reborn.”
I think you left out the most important word of this sentence.
I’m guessing based on the quote in the following paragraph, she’s not coming back.

Okay, so Hayden Panettiere, Zachary Quinto and Ali Larter are all “no”…What about Milo Ventimiglia and Adrian Pasdar?

  • BeastieRunner

I can see Milo coming back if his new series and films don’t conflict. Don’t know what Pasdar is up to these days.

Greg Grunberg isn’t very busy, either, these days. Masi Oka might come back depending on his TV schedule.

But I’m all for new blood!

Greg Grunberg is the only other actor I would bring back. He and Jack Coleman had great chemistry together.

Pasdar’s character was killed off. So I doubt he’ll brought back

  • Chumley

Good. Sylar should have remained dead at the end of the 1st season. He’s one of the reasons the show tailspun so quickly.

  • The Dread Pirate Steve #812

I’d rather see Larter than Quinto if you made me have to have one of them. At least I wasn’t sick of her by the end of season two…

  • Why?

Is there really that a big movement to bring this show back? If they won’t bring Firefly back with the amount of coverage that’s gotten over the years then I’d have to believe that there’s an even bigger fan desire to bring back Heroes. Right?

  • PietroMaximoff

i liked Larter, whenever she’s in a movie or something i can’t avoid remembering she was a badass in Heroes.
i like Quinto a lot, i think the problem had to do more with the writing and the way the character became too powerful to be killed and too impossible to like as a hero. the writers fell in love with him and couldn’t let him go. maybe just a cameo this time? a flashback scene?
i was sad to see Heroes get cancelled, but it was getting too messy and sub par, so it was fine if they never came back. just saying.

Peter is the only character I might be interested in seeing return and maybe Ando too but no one else really interests me anymore or I never cared about them to begin with. Even Peter wouldn’t be as interesting without his relationship with his brother but his powers could be explored in more creative ways still and he was all around a likable character. But from the sound/look of things Hiro, HRG and Matt Parkman are the only characters likely to return. All the other main cast members have other things on their plates now and/or aren’t interested in returning to Heroes anymore. Maybe if they bring in someone new with similar power mimicry/absorption abilities I could live with that.

And I definitely hope that we can now get the original anthology concept where we get new cast of characters every season/series with one or two connecting elements. I still hope that they drop the overt “we’re all connected, it’s all connected” mumbo jumbo which got more and more ridiculous and implausible as the things went on.

Good, IMO the series should have mostly new characters with just a few returning from the original series. Sylar took up way to much of the show’s attention after the 1st season anyhow.
