SDCC | First ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ Trailer is Strangely Beautiful

Warner Bros. has released the absolutely gorgeous Comic-Con International trailer for director George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road, one that’s a blend of sun-baked panoramas and deep-blue night shots, interrupted by explosions and beautifully choreographed violence.

The first Mad Max film in nearly 30 years, Fury Road stars Tom Hardy as Max Rockatansky, a road warrior struggling to survive in a post-apocalyptic landscape. The film also stars Charlize Theron as Imperator Furiosa, Nicholas Hoult as Nux, Courtney Eaton as Fragile, Riley Keough as Capable and Abbey Lee Kershaw as Wag.

Mad Max: Fury Road opens May 15, 2015.

What the hell did the lizard do to deserve that? Just minding his own business, doing lizard stuff….Mad Max is a jerk.

  • Laurence J Sinclair

Don’t get much of an idea how the character of Max will come out of this, but the general aesthetic seems to have survived intact.

  • George Caltsoudas

    This looks really good.

Nice! That car at the first of the trailer looks like the one got destroyed in “Road Warriors”. Is this a total remake?

  • Boombox

Looks like this reworks the end of Road Warrior, but happens before Thunderdome.

It seems odd to me just how little we saw of Max. (he spent most of the trailer tied up) He doesn’t seem even particularly mad about anything. It looks good, though I would’ve hoped for a new look rather than regurgitating the old. The previous films defined an actual aesthetic – too bad this one doesn’t seem as ambitious.
