Ken and Ryu will continue their warrior’s journey in a new webseries from Capcom.
The video game company used Comic-Con International to announce Street Fighter: World Warrior from Joey Ansah, who appeared live alongside stars Mike Moh (Ryu) and Gaku Space (Goki).
“We are incredibly happy to continue our relationship with Capcom, to bring more of the iconic characters from the Street Fighter video game to the screen,” producer Jacqueline Quella was quoted as saying by The Hollywood Reporter. “We demonstrated with Assassin’s Fist that an authentic, live-action version of a video game, with a compelling and dramatic storyline, can be made. We’ll be taking the same approach with the new series.”
Ansah and collaborator Christian Howard created a fan film called Street Fighter: Legacy that garnered a lot of attention, including some from Capcom. They were hired to create Assassin’s Fist in 2012 and have been going strong ever since. The 12-part Machinima series reportedly earned 16 million views.
World Warrior doesn’t have a set release date just yet, but will be out sometime in late 2015 or early 2016. Assassin’s Fist will be released on home video platforms internationally this fall.
