Grammy winner Patti LaBelle has joined the cast of FX’s American Horror Story: Freak Show.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the music legend will play the mother of Gabourey Sidibe’s character in the upcoming season of the hit anthology series. LaBelle will appear in four episodes, but she reportedly won’t be singing on screen.
Set in 1950s Juniper, Florida, the new season revolves around a clown killer called Twisty. Not much else is known about the new season, but the villains of the piece are said to hold up to the show’s previous baddies.
“There are a couple of central core villains, something to rival Rubber Man and Bloody Face and the Minotaur,” executive producer Tim Minear said at Comic-Con International. “I think it’s the scariest creation so far, it is being performed by John Carroll Lynch, and it’s going to scare the shit out of you.”
The anthology series’ fourth season will see the return of Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Frances Conroy, Angela Bassett, Jessica Lange, Emma Roberts and Sidibe. They’ll be joined by newcomers Michael Chiklis, Wes Bentley and Finn Wittrock. American Horror Story: Freak Show debuts Oct. 15.
