‘Captain America 3′ Title Will Be Very Ambitious, Directors Promise

With another Captain America sequel less than two years away, it’s only a matter of time before the third film in the series gets an official title. And when that subtitle arrives, expect it to be a doozy.

Speaking with CinemaBlend, directors Joe and Anthony Russo teased that Marvel will announce the title for their follow-up to The Winter Soldier in the very near future.

“I think when people learn the title of Cap 3, they’ll understand that Marvel is continuing to take really big swings,” Joe Russo said.

So, what could that title be? Captain America: Civil War? The Death of Captain America? Captain America: The Rise of M.O.D.O.K.?

Whatever it’s ultimately called, Captain America 3 will arrived May 6, 2016.

Sounds like they are aiming for Death of Captain America, but it seems a little soon to do that really =/ Would prefer they used elements from the ‘Secret Empire’ storyline, it would definitely fit in with the story they went with in Winter Soldier.

civil war is much more likely, considering Tony outted himself in the first movie, and registration would make sense post-sheild/hydra

It’s not going to be The Death of Captain America, because Chris Evans is signed to do one more Avengers film

My first thought was Captain America: Civil War… but, the more I think about it, there are not very many heroes in the Marvel cinematic universe with secret identities, are there? Who would they be trying to get to unmask/register?

I think it could be Captain America: Invaders…An article a while back that you guys posted referenced Russo saying that the character he most wanted to write into a screen play was actually what he had done and that the character wasn’t owned by Marvel Studios (Namor?)…Just a thought o.O bout to go watch Winter Soldier, bye!

Captain America vs The Evil Negroes, now THATS an ambitious title. I mean no racist intent, I’m just saying that this particular title is FAR more ambitious than anything they’ll come up with. How about Captain America 3: Black Widow Gets Anal Fisted. Again, very ambitious. They could even take Captain America out of the title and just call it Jew Farts: The Musical. See? Now that’s really ambitious. Maybe I’m missing the point….

I also doubt that it’s gonna be the Death of Cap but that’s not because of the signing, the deals only apply to the actor being obligated to appear in all films he/she is signed for but Marvel doesn’t have to use their actors in all the contracted films.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE BLACK PANTHER, IN CINEMAS MAY 6, 2016!

As long as Black Widow isn’t in it, I’ll be fine with whatever they do. Scarlett Johansson is such a horrible actress. She has zero chemistry with everyone, and some of her line readings in Cap 2 were downright cringe-inducing. Replace Black Widow with Hawkeye, and give Falcon a bigger part (and more to do).

  • Lyle

I assumed it would be Captain America and Falcon. But, I guess that doesn’t sound very ambitious.

  • JayStrang

    Daredevil. Iron Fist. Ant Man.

Not really enough to justify Civil War, but at least they are starting to introduce that kind of thing into the universe.

  • wellnow

Civil War is a crossover storyline more fitting for a crossover film, like an Avengers sequel. They wouldn’t cram a story of that magnitude into a solo character film.

  • heh

that was some bizarre shit, but it made me laugh.

I don’t think any of that was funny at all. You say you mean no racist intent yet what you said can’t be construed any other way. Apparently you must have a low opinion of blacks, jews and women.

  • Uncle Bug Music

My whole point was that no title they will choose will be in any way shape or form, ambitious. So the titles I came up with are rude, racist, sexist and offensive and to me – yeah, those would definitely be ambitious. You may not like them and they might offend you, but dang it, they’re ambitious.

And I do not have a low opinion of any African-Americans, Jews or Women. Quite the contrary. I do however, have something against musicals.

  • The_Eternal_Dalek

That seems to be exactly what is happening, swap Widow for Hawkeye and keep going with Falcon.

  • The_Eternal_Dalek

Captain America and The Falcon: *insert tagline here*

Why not? The comic went by that name for a while.

  • moreova

Why? Black Widow’s parts are plenty big for the two of them. ;)
