Is This Scoot McNairy’s ‘Batman V Superman’ Character?

Warning: Possible Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice spoilers ahead.

There’s been a lot of debate surrounding Scoot McNairy’s role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, director Zack Snyder’s upcoming follow-up to Man of Steel. Recent set photos of the actor wearing business attire and green-screen socks suggested to some that he’ll be the DC movie universe’s Flash, but a new report contends he’s playing someone entirely different — but very familiar, all the same.

Here’s who McNairy is playing, according to a rumor reported by The Devils Eyes:

“Scoot is playing Jimmy Olsen, but with a bit of a twist. Jimmy was injured during the battle of Zod vs Superman. His legs where pinned under falling building rubble and that caused him to lose the legs. He now walks with the use of two prosthetic legs.” The source goes on to add “He doesn’t blame Superman for it [his loss of legs]. He feels grateful that Superman saved the world.”

Could that be it? Is Scoot McNairy our new Jimmy Olsen? And if so, how much more depressing is the Man of Steel climax now?

Whether McNairy is indeed playing the intrepid Jimmy or an entirely different character, we’re certain to learn more as we move closer to the March 2016 release of Dawn of Justice.

Jimmy having robo-legs certainly screams “DARK AND GRITTY!!!” to me.

Didn’t they already genderswap the Jimmy Olsen character in MOS?

  • TheWolverine

Yeah… Maybe they’ll make Jenny Olsen be his sister.

The character Inman of Steel was NOT named Jenny Olsen. She had a different not-at-all-similar last name as seen in her Daily Planet ID badge prop.

This is stupid. Real amputees don’t wear pants that stop at the knee to show off their metal legs. If he were a real person he’d just be wearing pants and you would never know about the legs unless he was wearing shorts.

  • Matthew Robarge

This could be a break in shooting and he’s a double-amputee character confined to a wheelchair ala Lt. Dan. I wouldn’t go jumping to conclusions or judging “stupid” so quickly going by just a photo and some wild speculation. I’m sure there are a dozen possibilities for his appearance…

  • Jay

Dude, it’s likely for a single scene where his legs are exposed, not all the time. Jeez.

  • PietroMaximoff

the whole idea is so stupid..

bahahahaha!!!! look like I was the only one right!! I mentioned in several comments on several sites over the last few weeks that my money is on jimmy olsen! go ahead, look. No one else I have seen threw that out. I said JO from the beginning! The flash or GL were preposterous claims I never bought for a second!! but sooo many of these ppl were clinging to flash or GL like it was actually guna happen. Jimmy has been the most logical choice. don’t bother messaging me back if your guna pout and cry, or at all. I wont read it n e way :)

No one gives a shit mate, get a life.

I don’t think he’s playing a superhero, at any rate. He doesn’t look distinctly like any character from the comics, and Snyder usually sticks to his guns on the visualization of major characters. Plus, he’s just not beefed up enough — I’m gonna say a minor character at best.

No. There was a Jenny Jurwich. The “Jenny Olsen” thing was a rumor.
