‘Big Hero 6′ Is Now Disney’s Third Most Successful Animated Film of All Time

“Big Hero 6″ was on track this weekend to inch past “Beauty and the Beast’s” $218.9 million to become Walt Disney Animation Studios’  third-highest grossing domestic release of all time, behind “Frozen” and “The Lion King.”

Inspired by the Marvel Comics series of the same name, the Oscar-nominated superhero action comedy has earned more than $520 million worldwide since its November premiere.

Variety marks the box-office milestone in a brief article that points out that, despite the film’s success, Disney hasn’t rushed a sequel into development. In fact, co-director Chris Williams says he and his collaborator Don Hall haven’t had time to discuss a possible follow-up.

“If it’s not a great story, it won’t be a great movie,” Williams said. “The crew deserves a great story. And we have expectations from the audience, who grew up with Disney animation. They deserve a great story too.”

What the movie deserves is Sunfire and Silver Samuri

What’s the order if you factor in inflation?

  • Ushio

Yep stupid comparison without inflation and there only taking USA gross into account again.

So where’s the 3D Blu-ray version of this movie? It was pushed heavily in 3D at the theatres and it became so successful, yet it’s not worth a 3D home release??

I really enjoyed the movie, i’m glad it’s doing well for it’s self.
