Michael Bay Confirms He’ll Direct ‘Transformers 5′

Despite his involvement in Paramount Pictures’ efforts to create an expanded “Transformers” universe, Michael Bay hasn’t said whether he’ll return to direct the fifth installment of the franchise. That is, until now.

In a lengthy “Rolling Stone” profile tied to his Benghazi action thriller “13 Hours,” the filmmaker casually confirms he’ll step back behind the camera for the 2017 sequel. “I’m doing Transformers … 5, is it?” he tells the magazine. “I’ve taken on a lot of work.”

Bay had insisted 2011’s “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” would be his final film in the franchise, only to return for 2014’s “Age of Extinction” — which he also said would be his last. However, this time he really means it.

“‘Transformers,’ I still have a great time,” he tells “Rolling Stone.” “It’s fun to do a movie that 100 million people will see. But this is the last one. I have to pass the reins to someone else.” When the writer points out he’s said that before, Bay responds, “I know,” he says. “J.J. [Abrams] told me, ‘You’re the only guy that could do this.’ But it’s time to move on. One more.”

Ughhh, why??! i mean I’m sure there’s plenty of other competent directors out there who could helm the next transformers flick. Bay & Paramount should give someone else a shot. its highly doubtful I’ll even see the 5th film in the movie theater just for the fact that Bay is returning. He should’ve stopped at the third flick.

What difference would a new director make? Someone else made the TMNT movies and they’re still associated with Bay. If someone else comes in for T5, it will be the same thing because he will still be producer.
