Miller, Purcell to Return for ‘Prison Break’ Event Series; Fox Orders ’24’ Spinoff Pilot

“The Flash” stars Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell will reprise their roles as brothers Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows in the new “Prison Break” event series, which has officially been greenlit at Fox. Additionally, Fox has ordered a pilot episode for the “24” spinoff “Legacy” (via The Hollywood Reporter).

“Prison Break’s” original producing team — creator Paul T. Scheuring, Neal Moritz, Marty Adelstein and Dawn Olmstead — will also return for the event series, with Scheuring writing and executive producing. The original show saw renewed interest after appearing on Netflix, where it is reported to be very popular. Fox has not disclosed the length of the new series.

The “24” spinoff, “Legacy,” will feature a young, male operative and a more seasoned female agent. The intent is to launch as a limited-run series, similar to “Live Another Day,” but an earlier report contends there’s a possibility of a longer-term project. While original “24” star Kiefer Sutherland has previously said he will not return to the series, Howard Gordon, Manny Coto and Even Katz will be back to executive produce. Emmy Award winner Stephen Hopkin will direct the greenlit pilot episode.

I wonder if Miller and Purcell resent each other since neither seems able to get an acting role unless they are cast together. :-) But I’m looking forward to more “Prison Break.” I loved the original show. Well, they lost me in the Season 4 but Season 3, where they were all in wretched prison in Panama, was outrageous and ridiculous fun. Loved it! And the first season stands on its own as a classic prison escape drama. Season 2 is a bit of a throwaway but still entertaining enough, but then we get the epic Season 3, which was a stroke of genius by the show’s creators. Bellick in a Panamanian prison with the rest of the gang? Priceless! :-)

I need a spy series in my life right now

Purcel has a LONG list of roles without his on-screen brother. Granted, they’re straight to DVD action flicks, but he’s working steadily.

HOW?! He dies at the end of the series…

lol, Season2 was my favorite. Mostly as I loved the Scofield vs Mahone
    aspect.

Anyway, is this a prequel, or are they playing fast and loss with the concept of “dead” again? :P

At least he wasnt beheaded. I mean its not like you could come back from that…..oh wait :P

As long as it doesn’t cut into their Flash and Legends of Tomorrow screen time.

Totally agree, Season 1 was epic, season 2 lost so many people, season 3 was epic, 4 was forgettable. I also enjoyed the final break movie with Sarah escaping from prison.

If I had to guess, I think they’ll have it that the government had Michael Scofield fake his death so they could use him as a special operative for an undercover mission.
