"U.S.Avengers": A Guide to Marvel's New Patriotic Superhero Team
Although Logan Lerman and Jack Reynor can’t exactly confirm they’re on the shortlist of contenders to star as young Han Solo in the “Star Wars” spinoff, both actors are willing to address the prospect — one a lot more than the other.
Speaking with MTV News at the Sundance Film Festival, the 24-year-old Lerman played it cool, saying, “I don’t think I’d be intimidated; it’d just be fun. But, I mean, I really can’t speak about it. There’s nothing I can really say about it right now, at this point in time.”
Reynor, however, could barely contain his enthusiasm, telling MTV, “Look, man, that would be kind of an incredible gig to get, wouldn’t it? Totally insane.” He added that although he hasn’t met directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, he’s a big fan of their work. “I think they’re the perfect guys to do that movie.”
Unlike Lerman, however, 24-year-old Reynor seems a bit intimidated at the idea of stepping into such an iconic role. “You’ve got to sill some pretty seriously big boots there, man,” he said. “We’re talking Harrison Ford here, dude. He’s not a chump, you know what I mean? … You can’t do an imitation, you can’t try and just emulate what that is. It’s got to be something new, and it’s also got to be something that the audience is going to respond to.”
Lerman and Reynor are said to be joined on the Han Solo shortlist by the likes of Dave Franco, Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Scott Eastwood, Emory Cohen and Blake Jenner.
Written by Lawrence Kasdan and Jon Kasdan, the untitled movie opens May 25, 2018.
