DC Comics Reveals Full "Rebirth" Cast of Characters
Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker will record the soundtrack for “Neil Gaiman’s Likely Stories,” a four-part adaptation of the author’s short stories for the U.K. television channel Sky Arts.
Directed by Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard (Nick Cave’s “20,000 Days on Earth”), the London-set half-hour shorts are “Foreign Parts, “Feeders & Eaters,” “Closing Time” and “Looking For the Girl,” all of which share a common theme of “human consumption, destructive obsession and psychological cannibalism.”
“Short stories traditionally do not get a lot of love from television,” Gaiman said in a statement. “I’m really excited to see what the team are going to do and make with ‘Likely Stories.’ They’ve given it real thought and it feels like it’s going to be something very, very special.”
The series stars Tom Hughes (“The Game”), George MacKay (“Pride”), Johnny Vegas (“Moone Boy”), Kenneth Cranham (“Maleficent”) and Rita Tushingham (“Doctor Zhivago”), with Gaiman himself appearing “in an unusual way” in each of the shorts. Sky Arts also promises subtle nods to the author’s other works.
The ensemble cast is rounded out by Monica Dolan (“W1A”), Paul Ritter (“No Offence”), Simon Manyonda (“Doctor Who”), Johann Myers (“Good Cop”) and Montserrat Lombard (“Ashes to Ashes”).
“Neil Gaiman’s Likely Stories” will be distributed internationally by Sky Vision.
