Paramount Rolls Out Dates For Three ‘Transformers’ Sequels

Paramount Pictures this morning announced release dates for three “Transformers” sequels.

“Transformers 5″ will open June 23, 2017, followed by “Transformers 6″ on June 8, 2018, and “Transformers 7″ on June 28, 2019.

These will be the first fruits of the writers room established nearly a year ago, under the guidance of Akiva Goldsman, to map out an expanded “Transformers” cinematic universe, which will include an animated feature. Hasbro Studios President Steven J. Davis revealed in October that the next decade of the franchise had been plotted out, with “Transformers 8″ already in the works.

Michael Bay, who’s helmed every installment of the blockbuster series to date, confirmed just last month that he’ll step behind the camera once again for “Transformers 5.” However, he insists it will be his last, saying, “I have to pass the reins to someone else.”

Paramount’s four “Transformers” films have grossed a combined $3.761 billion worldwide.

I guess 2018 is when you expect a possible good storyline. Why do studios continue to give Michael Bay movies to direct?

Is there ANYONE AT ALL who is looking forward to these? Like, seriously ANYONE? And I was unaware of the apparently massive fan outcry for a shared T-formers cinematic universe…uh, is there one? This is a huge waste of time, talent, money and resources. Create something new, please! These will tank at the B.O., and hard.

    He makes money for them

But yeah, his movies are crap and TF is just awful

Actually this franchise-no matter how bad you may think they are,is still a viable series and just as entertaining as the F&F franchise, that can continue to be explored and rejuvenated..You may hate Bay, but he always is able to give a great or decent action film regardless of plot..

You’re delusional, sorry. He’s a total hack. This franchise has taken a dump on what made the original TF amazing. I just won’t watch or support this garbage.

Man, everyone is trying to copy the Marvel method of a shared cinematic universe. There will even be a Bumblebee spinoff. Sigh

One little tidbit left out of the article: the 5th Transformer is being released on the same day the Wonder Woman movie is scheduled.

The funniest thing is I’m now so offended by the prospect of the 5th Michael Bay Transformers out-grossing Wonder Woman, I’m almost forgetting how little faith I have in Warner Bros and the DC movie-verse to get her right.

The movie might be garbage, Gal Gadot might be a complete bust, and they may very well get EVERYTHING about the character wrong…but god damn it, I do NOT want to see Wonder Woman lose to Transformers and Michael Bay!

I don’t see how making a lot of sequels makes it a “Cinematic Universe”, as opposed to a bunch of Transformers Movies, but I bailed after #1, so maybe I wouldn’t get it.
