Creator Chris Carter and star David Duchovny have long suggested they’d be up for more “X-Files” following the miniseries revival. Now, it seems, Fox is on board, too. But a big question remains: when?
“They’re going to ask for more,” Carter told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview timed to coincide with Monday’s finale. “The ratings were very good.”
He noted, however, that his conversation with Fox Television Co-Chairman/CEO Dana Walden was “casual,” and there’s no deal in place. “So there’s an appetite for more in the future,” Carter added, “it’s just a matter of figuring out how to get it done. The last negotiations took about five months, so it could be a while before we figure out how to do this.”
Carter seemed fairly confident in the return of both Duchovny and Gillian Anderson (“I believe she would be game”), saying, “I’m just working around their busy schedules. They both have families. It’s another practical matter.”
