SDCC: "Batman: The Killing Joke" Cast & Crew Debuts Film at Comic-Con International
Fresh off of the massive success of “Deadpool,” Ryan Reynolds will next star in “Hitman’s Bodyguard” for Millennium Films. Deadline has reported that Elodie Yung and Salma Hayek have joined the cast of the film, which also stars Samuel L. Jackson and Gary Oldman. Deadline notes that Reynolds, Oldman and Jackson were attached to the film when Millennium snatched it up last fall, meaning that the studio lucked into putting out Reynolds’ first film after the biggest box office hit of his entire career.
Reynolds will go from playing a mercenary to the world’s best bodyguard, one charged with protecting a hitman (Jackson) from an Eastern European dictator (Oldman). Also complicating matters is the fact that the bodyguard and hitman have clashed numerous times in the past, making their 24-hour long mission to get to the Hague contentious.
In addition to starring the actors that play Deadpool, Elektra, Nick Fury and Jim Gordon, “Hitman’s Bodyguard’s” director also has a superhero connection; the film, which comes from screenwriter Tom O’Connor, will be directed by “Kick-Ass 2’s” Jeff Wadlow. Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, Boaz Davidson, Christine Otal, Douglas Urbanski, Jason Bloom, Christa Campbell and Lati Grobman are attached as executive producers; Mark Gill, John Thompson, Matt O’Toole and Les Weldon will produce.
Production on “Hitman’s Bodyguard” is scheduled to begin April 2 in London. No release date has been set.
