“The Wire” veteran Michael K. Williams has not only revealed a little about his role in the “Ghostbusters” but, undoubtedly more important to fans, confirmed an appearance by a popular franchise character.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly Radio, Williams said he plays “the FBI agent who works for the mayor” (Andy Garcia): ““Our whole thing is, we’re going to tell the people it was a flash in the sky and ‘Run along little women with your ghosts, we got this.'”
But then comes the ectoplasm-covered bombshell. Praising stars Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, Melissa McCarthy and Kate McKinnon, Williams said, “I’m not going to lie, working with Melissa, and Kristen, and Kate, was really dope. But I got to work with Slimer, dude. Like Slimer!!! I’m in a scene with Slimer! I’m a huge ‘Ghostbusters’ fan and it was a dream come true.”
Director Paul Feig shot down a report in November that “The Simpsons” veteran Paul Castellaneta would voice Slimer in the reboot, but stopped short of saying the character wouldn’t appear. It’s been rumored that Feig himself would voice Slimer (director Ivan Reitman provided the voice in the first two “Ghostbusters” films).
“Ghostbusters” opens July 15.
