"The Flash" Adds "Harry Potter" Star Tom Felton as Series Regular
“Star Wars: Episode VIII” may still be just under two years away from landing in theaters, but work is already well underway on the highly-anticipated chapter. The start of principal photography was announced on February 15, and Lucasfilm even gave fans a very, very brief tease of what to expect in the next “Star Wars” installment.
The brief bit of footage from “Episode VIII” picks up right where “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” left off, with Rey and Luke locking eyes while standing in the remains of a Jedi temple on a remote location. Daisy Ridley, who returns as Rey in the film, spoke with MTV while walking the red carpet at last night’s Academy Awards. Ridley discussed what the production has been like so far, specifically working with her legendary co-star Mark Hamill.
“Me and Mark have been rehearsing a lot, and it’s really amazing,” said Ridley, indicating that Luke will most likely have a larger role in this “Star Wars” film. “When we went back to Skellig to do the opening of ‘[Episode] VIII,’ it was so crazy doing the same scene with a different crew of people. He’s amazing to rehearse with, and I’m very excited to be doing the rest of the stuff.”
Ridley then added, “It’s such a good story. Seriously. Luke is so cool in this one. Really.”
Written and directed by Rian Johnson, the sequel also features returning cast members Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie and Andy Serkis. New cast additions include Laura Dern, Benicio Del Toro and Kelly Marie Tran. “Star Wars: Episode VIII” will open on December 15, 2017.
